The people crying "Rip-off!" are asinine, I was doodling anthropomorphic sharks fighting giant gorillas back in grade school. There's no way ninjaink came up with this on his own, and neither did Christopher Hastings. This isn't high concept, super original artwork. Stop whining.

I don't stand to gain anything one way or the other. I just think it's sad when people copy, whether it's Todd Goldman or a Teefury artist.

Uh, the term "Jawsome" was popularized by Street Sharks, a show I watched adamantly back in the day, so my doodles very well could have had the term scribbled somewhere. As far as I can tell, it's not trademarked, so I'm not "rationalizing plagiarism." I don't see David Siegel and Joe Galliani knocking down TeeFury's doors demanding this shirt be taken off the site. If Christopher Hastings ever tried, TeeFury would laugh in his face.

The Todd Goldman comparison is also a gross exaggeration, what ninjaink did doesn't even come close to the smurf Goldman tried to pull.

It isn't just the concept people are claiming was ripped off. It's the layout and execution. If you can honestly compare this t-shirt to the Dr. McNinja one (http://bit.ly/jn5Nkv) and say you STILL don't see the merit in peoples' comments, then I'd be shocked.

If it didn't have the word Jawesome, and only the picture, I would have bought it. I prefer the random comedy and silly humour without captions or having anything to guide it. In my opinion, the art could be left on its own and do great things.

You warped the intention of my comment. I wasn't trying to badmouth the artist, I'm just saying that if Hastings stumbled upon this, he probably wouldn't care and if he did, he would (hopefully) know that he couldn't really do anything about anyway. That's why I made the comment about TeeFury not taking him seriously if he did happen to try.
