About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
This design is my love letter to Tolkien and his work. I've read The Hobbit at least three times and even listened to the audio book, so you could say I'm a bit of a fan. Once the film started production a couple months ago, I figured it was time to design something involving one of my favorite books. I thought it would be cool to imagine Thorin and the rest of the dwarfs as their own company, so that's where the inspiration for a collegiate/company logo came from.
Where are you from?
I currently live in Springfield, but it's up to you to figure out which state :)
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I'm not only an artist, but also an award-winning scriptwriter. I've just completed my senior thesis film, South of Black Drink Crier, premiering in May.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
How bad I am at drawing the human figure. Honestly, I can barely get away with stick figures nowadays.
Name a few of your favorite things.
Gaming, film-making and food. To quote the late Thorin Oakenshield, " If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world."
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I was a huge fan of Looney Tunes as a kid, especially Marvin the Martian, so I'd draw him any chance I could.
Where would you bury your treasure? What would be in your treasure chest?
If I told you, I'd have to kill you.
Volcano secret base vs. skull-shaped island: which would win the battle?
How about a volcano secret base located on a skull-shaped island?
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
Definitely my Three Ewok Moon shirt. I get so many compliments when I wear it around campus, it's ridiculous! I'm a huge fan of anything even remotely related to Star Wars.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Although I should probably read more than I do, I'd go with movies. I've got way too many favorites, but if I had to narrow it down, I'd go with either the original King Kong (1933) or There Will Be Blood... or maybe the LOTR Trilogy :)
What inspires your work?
I'm mostly inspired by pop/nerd culture. Anything relating to fantasy, science fiction, or movies.
Any shout outs?
My girlfriend, Anna, for putting up with all my hours of sitting at the computer to finish this design. Also, big shout out to Sir Peter Jackson! My dream is to have someone forward him this shirt and hopefully buy one for the entire cast and crew of The Hobbit.
