Tell us about this design.
I still listen to the Munchausen By Proxy songs from Yes Man quite often, they're actually really good songs, and everyone loves a bit of Zooey don't they?
Where are you from?
A small town in England where people look at you funny if you're reading a book on a train.
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
When I was a kid I used to always draw ideas for football (soccer) kits, I even sent some off to Adidas and Nike etc. Sadly they all wrote back saying they didn't employ 10 years olds (which to be honest is kind of ironic) but to keep up the good work.
So I kept on coming up with ideas for tees, but I was never really confident enough to start selling them. Then Jimiyo asked me to submit one of my Quoteskine designs to teefury and things went from there. Now I've got a tee range coming out very soon with an English company called 8ball which will include all my old teefury designs as well as some new ones.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
Don't leave your ideas sitting as scribbles on a piece of paper. If you don't do it, you can guarantee someone else will.
What would be your dream job?
I'm working freelance these days, which is pretty much where I always wanted to be. But I guess I have the same dream as a lot of creative people. To do as many creative projects in as many different areas of art and design as possible. I really admire artists like Miranda July and Mike Mills who have produced amazing work in all different fields. So to get even close to 5% of what they've achieved would be awesome.
What is your favorite thing about quotes?
Well the most obvious thing I love about them is that they give me so many ideas for my work.
But I really like how they capture a specific moment, idea, thought or feeling with just a few words. One of my favourite (and one of the most relevant to my work) quotes is… "I quote others only to better express myself." Michel De Montaigne
What would your ideal house be like?
A huge tree house by a beach with a crazy golf course, a ball pit and at least one Ghostbusters pole.
Pencil vs. marker: which would win the battle?
I have no idea why but I think a marker would kick a pencil's ass.
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
It's a tough choice between cartoons and movies. But I think Thundercats, Dungeons & Dragons, Transformers, Centurions, M.A.S.K, Turtles, Real Ghostbusters and many more mean that cartoons win.
What are a few of your favorite websites?
I have a love/hate thing going on with all the usual websites that waste everyone's time and I really enjoy looking at artist/designer's portfolio websites.
