Outside of your own technique, what other styles of art interest and inspire you? (from Keia Coenen)

I am constantly inspired by a wide range of artistic styles, and the "inspiration" folder on my computer looks like a printhouse collided with a comic book shop in the middle of an art museum. It doesn't really feature in much of my work, but I've always been an enormous fan of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The come from such opposite directions stylistically - the free organic shapes and rich tones of Nouveau vs the sleek streamlined Deco style - but both have a special allure that continues to draw me back.

What cartoons did you watch as a kid? (from Jenny Rodansky)

All. All cartoons. My biggest formative influences were Looney Tunes and early Disney cartoons, as well as other classics like Tom & Jerry, The Pink Panther, and the Hanna Barbara stable of characters. But there were so many more: Danger Mouse, Inspector Gadget, Dungeons & Dragons & all of the toy-based shows like Transformers, GI Joe, He Man, MASK and a million more.

Being both from the tuberous family of vegetables, I think it quite likely that a strained family dynamic would emerge. Not the same cliche "I am your father" moment, but maybe something on the lines of "Hey, I think I saw you at that family reunion a few years back, right? Yeah, with the potato salad. That was you, huh? Yeah" Thus bonded by the ties of family, they would naturally join forces and take out the guy who invented the Atkins diet.

What's your favorite purple and why? (from Spencer Coleman)

My favorite purple would have to be the flavor purple that enhances so many childhood foods. Kool Aid, Skittles, Slush Puppies, Jolly Ranchers - they may call their purple-colored flavors some variation of "Grape", but every kid knows that their actual flavor is "Purple".

I'd have to say the gentle hum of a ceiling fan on an early summer night. The weather is just right for sleeping with the windows open, the scent of freshly mown grass mingles with the coming rain, the newly washed sheets are cool on your slightly sunburned skin, and that serene humming softly lulls you to sleep.
