If Vader had met the Dude when he was young, maybe he wouldn't have turned into such a headcase. He might have told the Rebels "This aggression will not stand, man," but he'd be too mellow to really do anything about it, maybe calling Luke, Leia, Chewy, Han and Obi over for a J so they can hash things out properly. It's what the Dude would have done. It would make a great tee. Don't steal it.
Where are you from?
I grace the 'burbs of the wonderful city of Melbourne, Australia with my presence. The houses surrounding me have their street number illuminated in red LED's. Friends think I live in a red light district when they come to visit.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
I'm not totally into this "HEY WORLD! LOOK AT ME!" thing. I let my images speak for me and I happily recede into the background. I like the dark.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
Ah, trick question. I see what you did there. You won't fool me that easy. I have six arms.
Name a few of your favorite things.
Reading, drawing, movies, time with my family, conversation, solitude, peace, rare moments of brevity.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I drew and painted a lot. Art runs in my family - father, brother, cousins, lots of talented people around and an encouraging environment. I'd draw whatever I saw around me, or in books. I loved the art of the Renaissance, still do, and trained with a professional artist for years when I was young. She taught me the methods of the great artists, and their style is still an influence today.
What is your favorite thing about The Big Lebowski?
The dialog and the absurdity. The Dude, Walter and Donny just talking - it's a feast for the ears and mind. You really 'feel' the wholeness of the characters. The way they punctuate the film with these small unexpected moments as well, like Dude dropping his joint and crashing his car, those little screams he does. Gold.
Dude vs. Jedi: which would win the battle?
It seems one sided, but Dude would fumble and drop the sword, Vader would watch on, first annoyed then mesmerised as Dude refuses to put his White Russian down. Vader would offer to help hold his drink and show him how to turn on his lightsaber out of frustration, Dude would offer Vader a J in friendship, Vader would say "Screw it, man, I really gotta relax, my shoulders are seriously tense," and the fight would be abandoned.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
Hate to blow my own horn, but BWAAAAAARP. I'm really digging my "Viva La Empire!" Vader/Guevara mashup tee, because it's a simple image, and people tend to look a little more carefully because at first they can tell something is not right - then BAM! Oh! I get it! Yeah dude! Sweet.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I prefer reading over the other two, but still enjoy all three. The mind is still the best cinema. A favourite book is a bit transient with me, but lately I’m digging Stephen Baxter's books a lot, especially Time. He writes eminently readable books filled with interesting ideas.
What inspires your work?
The regret of not painting and drawing for 10 years, science, religion, iconic images and the merger of ideas into a sharp clean simple style. And the desire to produce something purely for the sake that you want it to exist, that's important.
