About the artist
Tell us a bit about this design.
The Beatles are bigger than Jesus. The Doctor is bigger than Davros. And they're both now available on iTunes! It's a "banger and mash"-up of epic, iconic British proportions.
Where are you from?
When a mummy really loves a daddy they...oh, wait you mean the place I'm from! I hail from downtown sunny Longreach, which is a rural town in the middle of Queensland, Australia. The town is famous for having more pubs per head of population than any other town and is the birthplace of QANTAS (which means that John Travolta has been here).
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
That I have a full sized TARDIS in my bedroom that acts as an entrance into my secret comic room. You can check it out at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=236924&id=573012988&l=b9fbd5e918
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
That I cried when Jadzia Dax died in Deep Space Nine and have a man crush on Simon Pegg.
Name a few of your favorite things.
Action figures, comic books, my Wii and Muppets (just in case the life sized TARDIS didn't out me as a geek!)
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I used to draw short comics involving characters called Spaghetti and Meatball (who just happened to be spaghetti and a meatball with arms and legs) and their never ending fight against Snake and String (who were....drumroll....a snake and some string), in the style of "Danger Mouse", my favourite cartoon at the time.
What is your favorite thing about Doctor Who?
It's timeless appeal (boom-tish!) Each incarnation of the Doctor brings something fresh and new to the series. I love the fact that while everyone loves Tom Baker, you also have your first Doctor (unless you're lucky enough that Tom Baker is your first Doctor). Mine was Sylvester McCoy, although my sudden interest in Doctor Who probably had more to do with his companion Ace.
Sci-fi vs. fantasy: which would win the battle?
Phaser beats crossbow.
Holophoner beats ocarina.
Kirk beats faerie...although he would probably sleep with it first.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
It's a toss up between my old Midnight Oil "Blue Sky Mine" t-shirt and a Venom vs Spidey vs Carnarge t-shirt with Mark Bagley art (a black t-shirt covered entirely in white webbing and I think the picture on the front was from the Ultimate Carnage storyline).
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
I like to make a game of reading comics while watching movies. I'll flip through "Sin City", "Watchmen" or "Kick-Ass" and try and spot the differences with the movie. My all time favourite movie (based on the fact I can watch it over and over again without tiring of it) is "The Big Lebowski" with an honourable mention for "This Life Aquatic".
What inspires your work?
100% perspiration. It gets up to 45 degrees (Celsius) in Longreach during summer, so it's a good excuse to stay in the air-conditioning and punch out some web comics or t-shirt designs on the computer.
Any shout outs?
A big shout out to the Australian comic creators- Hayden Fryer, Jason Paulos, Darren Close, Ive Sorocuk, Caanan Grall (even though he's now in Canada), Trev Wood and Jen Breach.
"Sawbones"- a great little Aussie web comic by Trev and Jen at http://sawbonesonline.com/
My own little web comic- "Monstar" at http://www.webcomicsnation.com/jacen/monstar/series.php
