This design was chosen and scheduled many weeks ago. It is unfortunate timing *perhaps* with the recent tsunami disaster in Japan, but I don't see this design as a crass coincidence since it was not intentional.
I was born in Japan. I have family in Japan. And this design does not offend me.
Cranes represent mythical creatures that can grant wishes, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury, and it is quite serendipitous that we have this design at a time in which Japan needs our help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand_origami_cranes
