Here's to mix tapes and memories!

Tell us a bit about this design.

The design came about from making mix tapes growing up and the movie, High Fidelity. The former because of the memories of making mix tapes using nothing but the radio and a dual cassette deck. It was truly a talent to make a great mix tape on a 90 min tape. The later because of the great quotes from the movie namely this one "The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules".

I am a lead artist at a video game studio but my training is in traditional illustration. My fantasy job is to create designs for various things like skateboards, t-shirts, posters, etc.

I follow through with about 1% of my ideas.

Going to a live show. A well made rum and diet. Fridays at the Oarhouse.  Playing basketball.

I did a lot of characters from what I remember. Basically, anything that popped into my head.

The way the lyrics can hit on any emotion you may be feeling at the time and the big moments.... like when a guitar solo kicks in or the band comes in after a long build up like in "Only in Dreams" by Weezer. 6:43 in, check it out....it's epic. Well, actually check out the whole song! :)

I would say that the acoustic guitar wins. One of my favourite things about music is the lyrics, so when you strip away everything else and are left with the singer and his/her guitar, it's going to be something awesome. The performance becomes even more intimate and you feel like that there's no one else listening to that song but you.

Hmmm, I would have to say my old Sheridan College Illustration dept. shirt. First off, it was a wicked design and secondly, it fit perfect from the get go. Sadly, after many years it has been relegated to the "wear around the house" section.

Even though I make games for a living, I'm going to have to say reading.  It's something, that sadly a lot of people don't do, and that's a shame. I don't just have one favourite but some of my recent faves are High Fidelity, Love is a Mixtape, The Song of Ice and Fire series, and  anything from Wilbur Smith especially the Egyptian series.
