It's an homage to one of the most awesome games ever. It's titled Pipe-dream, because that's what Mario seems to be experiencing. He can never quite reach that which he seeks, the princess. Just when he appears to have found her, she is either not there, or kidnapped yet again. Must be terrible being Mario. For extra awesomeness I took the Mario pipe and made it into an actual pipe.
Where are you from?
I'm from The Netherlands, and live in a small town called Uden. It's pretty much your average Dutch town. We have people, streets, shops and cars. Also some animals.
Which art style would you most like to learn?
Graffiti has always intrigued me. Mostly because of the awesome typography going on. That's something I'd really love to pick up, making beautiful typography.
If you had a time machine, which era would you visit first?
It would be really awesome to see the old masters of oil-painting at work. The incredibly detailed stuff they made back in the day, when they first started doing the really detailed stuff is so amazing.
What goal do you most aspire towards?
There's no real big goal I can think of right now really. I just try to do awesome stuff and make awesome stuff and have fun. If there's one thing I'd really love to achieve is growing my t-shirt brand to something global, and travel around the world promoting it. That would be sweet.
If you could stop any t-shirt trend in its tracks, which would you end? What trend would you like to see started?
Badly drawn gore-stuff. You know, the exploding skulls full of guts or whatever, eyes popping out. Sure, this can be awesome, but only when done right. There is so much of this crap around. I'd love to see that go.
As for what I'd like to see start off, hmm. No idea really, that's a tough one.
Would you rather be quick or strong?
Quick, I really hate the feeling of being slow. I like to be able to dodge and evade.
Arcades vs. carnivals: which would win the battle?
Have to go with arcades on this one. So much videogame awesomeness in one place is hard to beat. But both are lots of fun, I'd be happy to go to either one.
Describe the first shirt you ever designed.
I think that would be a design I submitted to Threadless. It was just a drawing I thought was awesome. Didn't score so well, haha.
What has been your most inspiring art experience?
I recently got to work with one of the best comic-artists of The Netherlands on an album design. It was really great to work with someone of such a level, and the final product turned out great.
