A word from TeeFury:
Maybe in this world, Slimer shot first!
Tell us a bit about this design.
Maybe in this world, Slimer shot first!
Tell us a bit about this design.
It’s a mash-up of Admiral Ackbar (from Return of the Jedi, who was almost the Ole Miss mascot!) in a Ghostbuster’s uniform holding up a ghost trap.
Where are you from?
I hail from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States. Been there my whole life and I love it.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
That I have a Facebook fan page entitled “The Illustrator Formerly Known as Jerry Bennett”, and that I’m as geek as they come.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
That I blew 15 years of my life at a dead end lumber company doing hard labor and not spending it drawing and creating. That and I’ve only gotten to season three of Battlestar Galactica.
Name a few of your favorite things.
My wife, my animals, my church family, Marvel Graphic Novels, Star Wars,
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
I can remember drawing Star Wars stuff since A New Hope premiered in 1977, which I still love to draw if it wasn’t terribly obvious. I also drew superheroes, whether it was a licensed property or creating my own, and all sorts of comic book related stuff
Which film character do you most relate to?
I think I’m most like Samwise Gamgee: Willing to go the distance for your friends, conquering mightily, but never desiring to take credit.
Star Wars vs. Ghostbusters: which would win the battle?
I do believe Ray Stantz could come up with something to counter the force, but then Han would shoot first anyway.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
My current favorite shirt is one with the logo to a children’s book I illustrated, The Pirate Bride, because I am suprebly proud of that accomplishment, my first paid illustration work. Before that was a green Marvel Heroes shirt. It was not only seriously cool, but amazingly comfortable!
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Thanks to my wife, reading, hands down. Everything by Suzanne Collins, which would be The Underland Series and The Hunger Games Trilogy.
What inspires your work?
Movie score music is always playing in the background while I’m drawing. Latest faves include Tron Legacy, Inception and Stardust. Anything from John Williams is always on standby.
Any shout outs?
I have to give a gi-normous shout out to the Houston Area Ghostbusters, who were collaborators for this design.
The biggest shout out goes to my wife, Jessica, because she just plain rocks, and has been a bit of a Samwise Gamgee herself for me.
