Tell us a bit about this design.
I started out trying to make a scary mask, then filling the shape of the mask with what looked like veins and nerves. I kept adding lines and adding little doodles until it looked done.
Where are you from?
I live and work in Bemidji, MN, not far from Paul and Babe.
What do you want TeeFury fans to know about you?
My illustrations are a result of seeing what combination of lines and shapes will work in a space. Generally I just start drawing and the next thing I know i have a page full of lines, dots and curvy pieces. I don’t try for something reminiscent of a real life object. That doesn’t seem very fun to me, I can use a camera for that.
What do you absolutely not want them to find out?
That the name Withremote came from a label I found outside a pawn shop, literally meaning “comes with a remote”. It just kinda stuck.
Name a few of your favorite things.
Magenta ink, Sharpies, Diet Coke with Lime & halftones.
What kind of art did you make as a kid?
When I was a kid I filled notebooks with big boss battles with robots, jet packs, lasers, and other things of the sort. A lot of that came from mid 80’s cartoon like Transformers and GI Joe, and the metric ton of Nintendo I played when I was little.
What things really get under your skin?
Snuggies. Be a coat or be a blanket, don’t go half way.
Transformers vs. GI Joes: which would win the battle?
Giant sentient robots with canons for hands versus soldiers with red and blue lasers that couldn’t seem to hit the broad side of a barn. My vote is for the robots.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
It’s pretty hard to choose. Looking my my closet about ¾ of it is filled with tees. My favorite ones are comfortable and are from a memorable period of my life.
I am a pretty big fan of jimiyo’s work, especially True Love Never Lies.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies? Name your favorite title in your chosen medium.
Gaming I would say. Watching TV is passive, reading is kind of the same way (except for maybe Choose Your Own Adventure books), while gaming mechanics usually lend to near endless possibilities.
What inspires your work?
I am inspired by the news, video games from my youth, gig posters and children’s programming.
Any shout outs?
I’d like to shout out to my wife Katie and my son Miles. They are always there for encouragement and when I need to ask “what does this look like?”.

The shirt colour is cool too, so nice to see a change from black, white, navy and grey. I mean, I can see why those are featured so often, but this blue is pretty brilliant. (More red! I love red shirts!)
