You've Been Outcreeped
About the artist
A word from the curator:
Esther's style is amazing! Check out all the detail in this design- I especially like the pattern of the chair.
Tell us a bit about this design.
The starting point for this design was the experience of being totally engrossed in a good book; I suppose most people recognise the way familiar surroundings can suddenly appear very suspicious after reading a scary story?
Where are you from?
I'm from Nijmegen, the Netherlands
Name a few of your favorite things.
Coffee, smelly black markers, BBC Radio 4 podcasts, garden birds, sandwiches with smoked salmon, horseradish and shallots.
What are your feelings about travel?
I do approve of travel, especially so if said travel involves myself and a pleasant climate.
Would you rather invent a mythical creature or discover one?
Wandering about and accidentally discovering a Minotaur, stray Dragon or Yeti sounds a bit risky, to be honest.
When inventing a mythical creature, one at least has the opportunity to train it properly.
Fairies vs. elves: which would win the battle?
The fairies have a disadvantage, I'm afraid. The habit of handing out wishes to anyone they meet can surely backfire when encountering opponents on the battlefield.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
My favorite tee is a black shirt with two pandas driving a robot harvester, called "the Motive" by Heiko Windisch.
It’s a great little story that never fails to amuse me.
What inspires your work?
I collect amusing little everyday bits and bobs like pebbles. When looking for ideas, I just mess about with these bits, trying to combine them in all sorts of ways and see what happens.
Which is better, gaming, reading, or watching movies?
Looking at subject of today's T-shirt, it probably comes as no surprise that I enjoy reading the most.
