Imagine... breakfast that never ends!

Tell us about this design:
Who doesn't like bacon? Who doesn't want an "infinite" amount of bacon? This design is inspired by the art of M.C. Escher and the sweet delicious meat candy of the gods!

The Story:
One day I was thinking about M.C. Escher's art. Alternately, my brain was stewing on a bacon recipe that I've been working on called "El Torpedo". So, my brain naturally just welded these two ideas together: Escher and bacon. It hit me mobius "infinite" bacon. The design then sat for a year, pinned to my cubical wall. I didn't think it was anything special, just a cute little graphic. Later, when I started playing with t-shirt ideas I dusted it off and showed it around and I was surprised at how much it resonated with all my friends, thus Infinite Bacon!

Fashion Tip:
Wear a small yellow cape with this shirt and fight crime as Infinite Bacon Man/Woman!

How did you get started designing t-shirts?
I put together a small portfolio of art/designs together and the first t-shirt shop I walked into just so happened to be the right one. I was not looking to "make" shirt just yet; this was just a fact finding mission. As the gods shined on me, Steve Lee the owner of the shop, and I hit it off instantly. Our sense of humor is very similar and we started collaborating.

What advice would you offer other aspiring artists?
1. Draw in a sketchbook as much as possible! It does not matter what you draw, so long as the pen/pencil is moving. Keep it moving.

2. DO NOT THINK while you draw - Just draw and trust your gut instincts. Your hands are smarter than your brain thinks they are. The part of your brain that uses words is only a fraction of your real self, and it needs to shut up and let you get some real work done. After a time, you may notice recurring things in your sketchbook. Those are the ideas that need to leave the sketchbook and become projects.

3. Sleep on it: Once you have "something" in front of you, let it go and sleep on it. Put it away and don't look at it for awhile. A fresh set of eyes is priceless.

4. Don't be precious with anything. It's only paper. It's only canvas. Who cares? If you are too precious with things it prevents you from building better things. You should be fully ready and prepared to destroy the last eight hours, or eight days and start from scratch. If you are not ready to do that, then you can't grow. 

5. Sometimes the worst days in the studio produce absolutely nothing, are the ones that teach you the most.

6. Drinking beer is a good way to shut down your logical brain and loosen up. A lot of painters were boozers. Just sayin'. ;0)

What inspires your work?
I have heard you have to read a ton of books to be a good writer. I think the same holds true for art. I find myself constantly looking at tons of art.

Any other ideas up your sleeve?
Two words: "El Torpedo". El Torpedo is an all Hebrew national hot dog wrapped in bacon. The bacon wrapped dog is then put inside a cheese stuffed Chile Rélleno. The Rélleno is then deep fried and smothered in New Mexican Red & Green Chile sauce. This is my next invention. It is in the prototyping phase, and it is delicious.
