Gruss Von Krampus
About the artistArt curated by
Words from jimiyo: We've been printing Missmonster art since the beginning so we're giving Krampus another go, especially for you hardcore MMM fans! For those of you who are unaware of who Krampus is, he's like the anti-Santa, who punishes and warns bad children during the festive holiday season. If positive reinforcement doesn't work, why not give fear a chance? Not only do we provide t-shirts, we provide parenting advice. You're welcome.
INTERVIEW WITH A MISSMONSTER FAN
Since we've interviewed MissMonster several times in the past, this time we're trying something a little different- interviewing a hardcore MissMonster fan!
Here's what Lea had to say:
How did you first discover MissMonster's art?
I originally found her work via a video she posted of herself terrorizing school kids in her monster costume. I thought it was absolutely hilarious. Followed the trail back to her site and art, and the rest is history!
Do you have a favorite MissMonster design?
There was a shirt she did a while back that had a tiger thing with lots of tentacles. Very colorful. Made By Humans put them out for her... I liked it so much I ended up buying 2.
Have you been inspired by her work to create any art of your own?
Actually yes! ha! Our entire guest bedroom is decorated in MissMonster art, save one gigantic painting I did across one of the walls. I couldn't have Melita come over to paint it for me... (cry!) so, I tackled it myself. I wanted it to match Melitas style so it wouldn't stick out too badly, but kept some of my own characteristics in it so that people that know my work would recognize it as my own.
Describe some of the MissMonster pieces that you own.
Well by far my favorite is a painted and steampunked ram skull she did. It is the onlyMiss Monster piece that is not in the guest bedroom, I keep it proudly on display in the living room. It is just beautiful.
If you could suggest any kind of design or product for MissMonster to create, what would you choose?
I could never. She has the most amazing imagination, and every time I see a new piece I stare in wonder at where she gets such wonderful and well executed ideas.
Imagine you've been given the chance to have any mythical creature as a pet. What would you pick, and what would you name it?
Who doesn't want a dragon? I would probably name him Fred.
