Aphte is one of my favorite illustrators on the whole planet. It makes me super-happy to be able to bring one of his pieces to TeeFury, and I hope it makes all of you happy too!

Tell us about this design.
Hm, I'm not sure if I should. And maybe I'll be unable to elaborate some phrase with a strong underlying meaning to this whole movement made of tons of little creatures. But apparently, they're on a trip, I hope they find some big road to keep going on, because if it's not the case, a lot of them is going to get lost.
Especially the small ones, poor them!
Where are you from?
I'm from the south of France where I spent a happy childhood, and I recently moved to Paris to work (I know there's a huge gap between "happy childhood" and my new life in Paris, but nothing's really interesting in-between).
How did you get started designing t-shirts?
I was a student in an art school in Marseille, and I wanted money to buy food (because I'm tall and I need to keep giving my body fuel to work, or maybe I'm just boulimic). Then I've found about the magical power of designing t-shirts and earning money, but then, I understood the secret ways of the huge brotherhood of t-shirt designers, and was happy to be part of it.
What advice would you offer to aspiring designers?
I still kind of feel being an aspiring designer, so I don't know if I'm the best suited for advices ; but one thing that can help is to keep cultivating the art of self-depreciation ; with a strong touch of hard work. And also, being curious helps a bit, I guess. Hmm, common advices, but I think they're somehow universal.
What would be your dream job?
I'd like to have all the means possible to create stuff on a vast array of mediums. Like sculptures, jewelry, be at least able to make some comics (and I have to do some, but with my current work I don't have as much time as I would like to spend on it)... Well. Dream job would be to be able to create without thinking of any other things beyond this.
What are your feelings about stickers?
I'm afraid of them. They could be anywhere... Anywhere!!
What would your dream house be like?
My current flat is actually quite nice and fits well my "dream-house" feeling. It's a small flat in the roofs of Paris, with an amazing rooftop terrace. It's comfy and cute. But if I had to think of something really awesome, it would be a house on the top of a gigantic sculpture of a dog.
Mice vs. hamsters: which would win the battle?
I've recently seen the stupid video "Hamster on a piano eating a pop-corn." So now I'm pretty much sure the mice would beat the hell out of the hamster. Damn creature.
Describe your favorite shirt that you own, and why you like it so much.
It's a t-shirt from Ginette Lapalme that I'm really fond of. There's a tipi with eyes on it. That explains everything.
What was your favorite as a kid: comics, cartoons, or movies? Was there a specific title you liked most of all?
When I was very young, we had this videotape with a cartoon named The Flight of the Dragons. I was so fond of it that I probably watched it hundreds of time. But now the main thing I remember about this was that someone has recorded something different at the end of it, so I don't remember the end at all...
What are a few of your favorite websites?
I love the website ajourneyroundmyskull.blogspot.com; it's always full of old and incredible illustrations, and I'm still amazed by the choices made. I'm also wandering a lot on sites like www.meathaus.com, drawn.ca or catsuka.com. It's nice to have a mix of things.
Any shout outs?
I'm out of shout outs currently, but I'll be happy to give some to whoever wants to. Arh!
