Told You So
About the artist
Told You So is basically a "what if" scenario that has been playing around in my head for a bit of a while now. I've always been a big fan of NES games and nursery rhymes, so this seems like a perfect marriage of my major influences. No one knows how or why Humpty Dumpty had the "great" fall. Perhaps I may be on to something here. hmmmmm....
Tell us about yourself:
I am an illustrator / web designer / graphic designer and have been designing for almost 10 years now. I am the eldest of 4 siblings and I am somewhat, the breadwinner of the family. I absolutely love clothes in general, as well shoes, and I pretty much have an extensive collection of "kicks". Apart from the obvious hobby of drawing, I am also an electronica musician under the name, Techisoba, and have recently released a free digital download of my album up over on my blog.
Where are you located?
I live in Cebu City, Philippines. I am blessed to be surrounded with enormous talent and inspiration in this city (i.e. Nicolo Nimor, Uzi Emperado, etc)
What's a day in the life of Chad like?
A day in the life of lil' ol me hmmmmmm....
I usually wake up at 1pm and start up with work and end till late 11-12pm. I log in and check for tasks to do and then start one and eat lunch altogether ( I work at home now). Sometime during the day, I get a rush of inspiration and I sketch 3 - 4 times depending on how inspired I am. My days are pretty much very boring, consisting of only work and sketching and eating most of the time (and hunting for shoes) . When I do get freelance jobs, I schedule it on weekends or some other time that I am less busy. Like now, so hire me!
Do you own alot of shirts? If so, what's your favorite?
Yes I do own a lot of shirts! My favorite would have to be the one I did for Suicide Silence. I think that was my best illustration piece yet.
What's the most fun client/design you've worked with?
I have like 3 favorite clients to work with, Richochet Management, 8-bit Zombie, and Nick-Automatic. They have their own styles of art direction, but I love how they are open to my ideas and how they are very professional; they have been really great to me.
What do you like to do for fun?
EAT! hahahaha. Especially if you're with good company. Priceless. And of course, the usual, drawing stuff up from scratch.lol.
Star Trek or Star Wars?
Mos def STAR WARS. Lightsabers and The Force is crazy dope.
Would you rather survive a zombie apocalypse or a nuclear apocalypse?
I'd rather survive a nuclear apocalypse. By then, I will be a super mutant/creature thing with a lightsaber and telekinesis, so if there's a slight chance of a zombie apocalypse looming in the near future, I can battle it out, super-mutant styyylllleee.
Do you collect anything, or have any hobbies?
I collect shoes more than shirts. I also have this affinity for anything Astro-boy and Mazinger-Z related. But shoes is where most of my money is spent. IF I do have money. lol.
What's your art process like, from initial sketch to finished product?
I always start from a sketch. That is where I test every element out, to get the layout right, to get the right expressions the way I want it to be, setting the mood, etc. Basically, I work everything out with the sketch so that the client has an idea of how the final piece looks like. After approval, I then digitally ink and color everything using Adobe Illustrator, and that's it! The last few retouches are also done in AI and the only thing left to do is wait for further revisions and/or sign-off.
MAC or PC?
MAC!!!!!!! I am absolutely an Apple fan boy!!! I could go on all day about what makes a MAC the absolute champion, and I WILL get an iphone4.... SOMEDAY......
